Westland Classic Motorcycle Club
The club meets at 8.00pm every second Tuesday of the month at Chilthorne Domer recreation club. New or prospective members are always welcome - visit the contact us page on how to get there. You don’t need a classic bike to be a member, just have an interest in biking of any form.
Spring 2016 calendar and special announcements
From The Chairman
In February this year we had another good display at the Bristol Classic Motorcycle Show at Shepton Mallet. We were ideally situated with our stand in the Mendip Hall complete with overhead heater, much appreciated with the cold rain buffeting the site, late Friday and all Saturday. Luckily the rain stayed off on Sunday until after everybody got home.
Amongst the 12 bikes on the stand, all of who deserved an award, there was much interest from the public, especially for the two Japanese bikes. One of which,Mark Copley’s 1972 Kawasaki H2 won the First Prize in the show for the Best Vintage Japanese.
Mike Axe was kept busy relating details of his 2 perambulations to Australia and South America complete with maps and genuine Aussie dirt on his BMW 1200GS. One ‘punter’ looking at the map route around Australia was heard to comment” well that’s not far, just going around the Isle of Wight”. Most people realized the enormity of the journeys and one or two may even copy them in future, thanks to Mike’s freely given advice.
Over 500 promotional club cards were handed out; hopefully this may encourage some new club members. Note - it is now only 10 months to next year’s show – get fettling
